A series of seven books by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman called The Death
Gate Cycle. That bit was from the end of book two, Elven Star.
^_^
hmm... interesting. what's the story all about? can you give me some hints or
teasers?
Hee, stacked quotes.
It's rather complicated and a bit hard to explain. I'll give you the little
teaser from the back of the book:
"Ages ago, sorcerers of unmatched power sundered a world into four relms --
sky, stone, fire, and water -- then vanished. Over time, magicians learned to
work spells only in their own relms and forgot the others. Now only the few who
have survived the Labyrinth and crossed Death Gate know of the presence of all
four relms -- and even they have yet to unravel the mysteries of their severed
world..."
They're quite a good read and deffinately some of my favorite books, although
not many people have heard of them. Also, to quote about half the people the
main character meets, "I know all about the dog..."
Quote by UttaraZifnab: Complain, complain.
That's all you've done. You haven't said a word about my performance. "Fly,
you fools!" I thought I played that rather well.
Dragon: Gandalf said it better.
Zifnab: Gandalf! What do you mean he said it better?
Dragon: He gave the phrase more depth of meaning, more emotive power.
Zifnab: Well of course he had emotive power! He had a Balrog hanging onto his
skivvies! I'd emote, too!
nice. where did you get that?
